Scan without focus

As you know, the scanner is the essential functionality of warehouse management solutions. Usually, to obtain product information from a barcode, you first have to focus on the input field. This is a real constraint, since this action represents a major waste of time when multiplied by thousands of references and makes errors hard to avoid.

To reduce this issue, we have designed a "scan without focus" functionality, which simply eliminates the first step of focusing on the input field. Our users benefit from a better browsing experience, and therefore a better working experience. What is the technology used for HRC Software's user interface?

HRC Software relies on two technologies.

The first is SAPUI5. This is a client-side framework proposed by SAP. Why has HRC Software chosen SAPUI5? Quite simply, to ensure that standard SAP applications, specific applications developed by our customers and, last but not least, standard HRC Software applications can coexist. Our aim is to offer the best possible user experience, with true compatibility with all devices.

HRC Software also relies on the Low Code - No Code Neptune Software platform, itself based on the SAPUI5 framework, to offer ergonomic, high-performance mobile applications that take full advantage of the specific features of mobile terminals (camera, barcode reader, NFC, etc.).

Are applications available offline?

The architecture of HRC Software applications enables offline use (from cache management to overcome micro outages, to use in disconnected mode for several hours). However, it is essential to carefully assess the relevance of the offline approach to the business context.

Indeed,we do not consider the "offline first" approach to be the answer to every situation. Where the offline use of an application dedicated to maintenance management in an uncovered environment may be obvious, its use in a warehouse to ensure product traceability is not necessarily so. In all cases, it is important not to underestimate the business impact on both organization and processes.

Designing an application that is accessible offline leads to limitations in the functionalities offered to users, and complicates the rules for data reconciliation, when this may take place in connected mode around 90% of the time.

Finally, offline functionality leads users to download a larger amount of data, which can be displayed in the event of a network outage. But these numerous downloads can have an impact on data synchronization times.

 

Good to know: thanks to their stateless architecture, HRC Software applications are not very sensitive to network outages.

Is it possible to differentiate access by user?

Yes, it is of course possible to fine-tune access to different applications, based on SAP roles. Each application can be associated with one or more SAP roles, and then assigned to different user profiles.

A warehouseman will then have access to the applications needed to carry out his warehouse management activities (goods receipt, inventory, storage, goods issue, etc.), and a maintenance technician to the applications relevant to his activities (inspection rounds, notification creation, work order execution, etc.).

Is HRC Software's solution compatible with SAP S/4HANA?

Yes, the HRC Software solution suite is compatible with all major SAP versions: SAP S/4HANA (from version 1909) or SAP ECC6.

Having either of these versions is quite sufficient to benefit from the various Business Packages delivered by HRC Software: Spare Parts , Warehouse , Maintenance or Procurement, at the heart of your company's operations. So, of course, HRC Software is compatible with SAP S/4HANA!
