Creating Inbound Deliveries Directly from EGR in Decentralized SAP EWM

Written by Marc Dautréaux | Mar 4, 2026 8:08:04 AM

SAP EWM is a powerful solution providing a surgical, real-time view of inventory far beyond what a standard ERP is capable of. However, this level of control requires strict documentation and process discipline.

For those transitioning from a standard IM/WM environment, the "culture shock" can be significant. Operators accustomed to performing a simple MIGO 101 on a Purchase Order find that with EWM, you cannot simply "receive the PO." An Inbound Delivery is a mandatory prerequisite.

While this is the backbone of warehouse planning, on the shop floor it can feel like a bureaucratic burden - especially when a truck is waiting and the delivery has not been pre-created by the office.

Bridging the gap: Mobility meets EGR

If you work with Decentralized EWM, you do not have access to synchronous Goods Receipt (GR) for external procurement; you are limited to the delivery-based inbound process.

Standard SAP RFUI is efficient for execution, but it has a functional gap: it does not natively allow you to trigger the creation of an Inbound Delivery directly from an Expected Goods Receipt (EGR) on a mobile device.

That’s exactly why we developed our “Create Inbound Delivery” app.

Quickly select a PO or browse through open orders.

Creating the delivery upon arrival provides true flexibility.
By using the supplier's delivery note, you can adjust quantities or exclude missing materials on the fly. This eliminates the need for later administrative corrections and significantly reduces the risk of data entry errors.

What this enables for your warehouse team

Our solution allows your team to:

  • Create Inbound Deliveries on the fly: Directly from a mobile device using EGR.

  • Remove the "Office Bottleneck": No more calling a key user to manually create a delivery before the warehouse can start working.

  • Enable Immediate Processing: Start the EWM inbound flow (unloading, packing, GR) the moment the truck arrives, without leaving the dock.

You can now leverage the full power of EWM without being held back by initial administrative hurdles!

Note for Embedded EWM users: If you are interested in Direct Goods Receipt on Purchase Orders (synchronous movements), we have you covered as well with our Synchronous Goods Receipt app.
